A little about me
My past and what made me decide to become a Counselor
I grew up an only child who was very insecure due to learning disabilities, behavior issues, and always felt different; or like I was not given the guide on how to be a normal person. I was taken to counselors when I was young that I did not feel comfortable with for one reason or another. I became addicted to drugs at the age of 15 and used until the age 22. It was during the time I was getting sober that I met counselors who treated me like an equal. Talked to me like a normal person not a client, and showed me that putting the person first by treating them on a humanistic level is most important.
School
In 2010 I started school at Texas Tech University and in 2014 got my undergraduate degree in Community, Family, and Addiction Services. I went to graduate school at TTU and received my masters in Community Counseling in 2017. I have worked in this field in one way or another for the past 10 years. At the end of 2020 I decided it was time to open a private practice so I could help people the way those counselors helped me!
